Current and Past Research

My area of research specialization is health policy. This is a multi-disciplinary area and I am assisted by having a:

  • Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Ottawa
  • a post graduate Diploma in Institutional Administration with specializations in Hospital and Education Administration from Concordia University in Montreal, and a
  • Master of Science in Community Health from the University of Toronto.
  • a PhD from the University of Wales in Quantitative Methodology which led me to read extensively in health policy, political science, economics, philosophy and social psychology, all in the environment of a business school.

Being at the University of Saskatchewan gave me the opportunity to participate as part of our research team at the Saskatchewan Commission on Directions in Health Care, known as the Murray Commission. The research our team conducted was very rewarding because it had direct impact on health care within the province. It is seldom one sees one's work have that kind of impact on policy.

From 1990 until 1996 I pursued PhD Research. My dissertation was entitled Distributional Justice and the Priority of Access to Health Services: How Would Home Care Clients Decide? My current research interests are still within the area of health policy, health politics and health ethics.

Most of my efforts since 1999 have lately been devoted to studying the issues of retention, recruitment, satisfaction and skill mix utilisation of health care providers.
