The Process

In your report you will have to include information on both the causes of earthquakes and volcanoes and also the effects that they have.  For earthquakes you will have to describe the Richter Scale and what it's numbers mean.  You will also have to include some safety issues when dealing with earthquakes and also how you might be able to predict them.  For the volcano section of your report you must be sure to include information on the Pacific Rim of Fire such as where it is located and what it is.  You should include different types of volcano formations and also how magma can emerge as volcanic flow. The report should be as long as you need it to be to write all the information you feel is necessary.  Be sure to include an introduction and a conclusion for your report.

After you have completed your report which includes all of the above information, you can move on to the tangible part of the assignment.

For the tangible part of the project you will build a volcano.  There are many ways to build a volcano included on the site http://volcano.und.nodak.edu/vwdocs/volc_models/models.html.  It does not matter which way you choose, as long as effort is seen in your work.

To find the information you need to complete your report, many websites have been put into the resources section of this website for you to use.  If you would like to find different websites to use, feel free to do your own search and use other websites that you feel answer your questions.
