Question     Answer     Glossary     Worksheets

Question:

There are two water slides at the local pool. The starting point for both slides is 6 meters above the water. For each you will start from rest at the top of the slide. If you choose slide A, you will slide off in a horizontal direction 4 meters above the water. If you choose slide B, you will slide off in a horizontal direction 2 meters above the water.

Which slide takes you further toward the opposite edge of the pool? (Neglect the tiny air resistance effect.)

No math is required in your answer. I want you to explain your answer and your reasoning conceptually.
