Xfig (available from the X11 ftp site, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory) is a graphical FIG editor which will run under UNIX and X11 systems, including Linux. This is the most popular FIG program. In fact, many people refer to the FIG format as "xfig format". Current release version is 3.2.4. Alpha testing is being conducted on 3.2.5. (Main site.) • A VMS (OpenVMS) port was done of xfig 2.1.6 and xfig 3.2.0b4. (FIG version 2.1/3.2) ZIP archives are available at the DECWindows Archive. Ported by David M Brooke, Jerome Lauret, and Patrick Moreau.
• An Amiga port by Andreas Schmidt is available as AmiFIG. FIG version 3.2. (An older port of XFig 3.1.x by Terje Pedersen is available via AmiNet.)
• There is a MacOS X port of xfig from the Fink project. (Macintosh port of xfig.)
• Ports to MicroSoft Windows and other PC operating systems.
• Thai patch to provide Thai font support for xfig.
• MetaPost patch to support MetaPost export in xfig.
• Simple Electronics Library for XFig.

Note that XFIG requires the transfig program for converting its native FIG format files into usable output.
