WWW Development
Here are a few items on the WWW I have created in relation to my work:
I teach a number of workshops and seminars on how to develop web pages at
the University of Saskatchewan. The above link takes you to on-line notes
for many of these seminars.
I've worked on developing and maintaining the main campus WWW page. This
was done in with the Division of Audio
Visual Services and the campus
webmasters with input from the Web Information Providers'
Group.
I created this page because I wanted one place for people to connect to
for information about Saskatoon. The information here was suitable for
people travelling to our city for conferences, etc. who wanted a little
background information.
When I started this page, it was the only one of its type in Saskatoon.
However, the Saskatoon
Freenet has since come on line which provides a similar function. Now
I mostly borrow from the Freenet pages.
This page was designed to do for Saskatchewan what the Saskatoon page did
for Saskatoon. It provided a single "entry point" to an index of services
available on the Internet from Saskatchewan.
Originally it was the only such service in Saskatchewan. Since then, other
pages have taken over many of it's functions. It's main contribution now
is the list of Saskatchewan
communities with web sites.
I volunteered to develop this page for the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival. It
lists the events, the artists, etc. It's a good example of how an
"information kiosk" can be created quite easily with the WWW.
