We will be In the United Stated for 5 days meaning we will fall under this classifications for total amount of goods we can declare at the border upon entry into Canada:

Absence of 48 hours or more
You can claim up to CAN$400 worth of goods without paying any duties. You must have the goods with you when you arrive in Canada.

So we are only able to bring back $400 of goods without Paying Duties. If you declare more than $400 Of goods you will be required to pay for them in the airport at Canada Customs. The dutie can range anywhere from a few dollars to a few hundred depending on the amount of goods you bring back.
