Course outline: Starting Wednesday, September 19th. Final presentation Wednesday, December 5th.

Each week one student will present a 40 min critique of a current journal article, in plant molecular biology. All papers must be within a designated theme area and the papers must have been published in the last 2-3 years (2004-2007).

All papers must be approved by Dr. Bonham-Smith at least the week prior to presentation

Students not presenting will contribute with questions directed to the presenter.

A one page (typed double-space) synopsis of the presented paper will be handed in on the day of the presentation.

Student evaluation:

1.      2 journal article presentations (1st = 15% & 2nd = 20%) = 35%
         Participation (10 presentations) = 10%
         Synopses (2 x 2.5%) = 5%

TOTAL        50%

2. One WEB page on an approved topic (not in research area) DUE: Wednesday October 24th = 20% SEE WEB PAGE EVALUATION

3. One NSERC Resarch Grant Poposal DUE: Friday 7th December = 30%
