PRESENTATION SCHEDULE



Course outline:

1. 1 lecture in early February to introduce presentation style, slide composition etc.

2. Symposium is scheduled immediately after classes have finished - Tuesday 10th April 2007

3. The symposium will consist of primarily 1 session - held in Biology 106 & 125 - open to the University community

4. Each presentation will last 10-12 min with 3-5 min for questions. Attendance at ALL talks is compulsory for ALL graduate students.

SCHEDULE WILL BE AVAILABLE MONDAY 2nd APRIL, 2007

5. Sessions will be chaired primarily by post-docs and secondarily by faculty.

6. Poster presentations will be given by 1st year students - posters will be displayed on the  poster-boards around the department for one week from Tuesday 3rd April until Tuesday 10th April (research posters will be removed for the duration).

PLEASE NOTE all students presenting posters will be stationed by their posters for questions from 12 noon until 1:00 pm on the day of the symposium

7. Each poster will be given a number and the evaluating faculty members will be given a poster assessment sheet to fill out in their own time prior to the 10th April

 A poster prize will be awarded

8. Oral presentations will be given by all graduate students in their 2nd year and upward of a M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree. It is hoped that all students attending talks will fill out evaluation sheets for their colleagues. These sheets will be provided on the day of the symposium. Upon completion of a session all evaluations should be handed into the chair who will ensure that they are placed in the correct folder. All assessments will be forwarded to the graduate student upon completion of the symposium

9. All faculty are asked to attend those presentations of interest (to them!!) and fill out an assessment sheet on the presenter - these will be handed into the chairs of each session and will be placed in a folder with the studentís name.

 TWO presentation prizes (one for lab-based and one for field-based research) will be awarded

10. The symposium will be concluded with a BBQ (Departmental funds) in the Natural Science museum
