Marchildon, University of Regina Honourable Roy Romanow, University of Saskatchewan Steven Lewis, Simon Fraser University & Access Consulting Anthony Culyer, an internationally renowned health economist with expertise in knowledge translation and clinical practice guidelines, has lectured or taught at more than a dozen universities around the world, including the University of Toronto. He is currently on a leave of absence from his position as a Professor of Economics at the University of York in England. He also holds an honorary doctorate in economics from the Stockholm School of Economics. Dr. Culyer is currently a co-editor of the international Journal of Health Economics, and has served on many journal editorial boards in the diverse fields of health economics, medicine, medical ethics, social science and medical law. He has published over 200 articles in various publications and scholarly journals, and his work also appears in more than two dozen books. Gregory P. Marchildon is a Canada Research Chair in Public Policy and Economic History, Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Regina. He is also a Fellow at the School of Policy Studies, Queen's University. He was Executive Director of the Romanow Commission. From 1996 until 2000, he was Deputy Minister to the Premier and Cabinet Secretary in the Government of Saskatchewan, and from 1994 until 1996, served as Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Relations. From 1989 until 1994, he was Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC. Roy John Romanow is Senior Fellow in Public Policy, Department of Political Studies, University of Saskatchewan. Former Premier of Saskatchewan, he was elected to three consecutive terms in office (1991–2001). He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan in 1967. During the 1981 discussions over the patriation of the Canadian constitution, Roy Romanow played a pivotal role, along with Jean Chretien, in working out the final details of Canada's new constitution. On April 4, 2001, Romanow was appointed to head the Royal Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada releasing the Commissions’ report in 2002. In 2003, he was sworn in as a member of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada, made an Officer of the Order of Canada, and was also awarded the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. Steven Lewis is a health policy and research consultant based in Saskatoon, and currently Visiting Scholar at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver as well as Adjunct Professor of Health Policy at the University of Calgary. Prior to resuming a full-time consulting practice he headed a health research granting agency and spent 7 years as CEO of the Health Services Utilization and Research Commission in Saskatchewan. He has served on various boards and committees, including the Governing Council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Saskatchewan Health Quality Council, the Health Council of Canada, and the editorial boards of several journals, including the newly launched Open Medicine. His published work covers topics such as reforming and strengthening Medicare, improving health care quality, primary health care, regionalization, and the management of wait times.
