Art 336 Web Pages | My Pages | Assignment D

Hmmm? What to put on these pages?

An idea! Now that I have a captive audience, I can show you what I did on my summer vacation in 1992. First, I should explain that I have been travelling back and forth between Nova Scotia and the Prairies since 1962, either by train or plane. In 1992, I decided to do a VIA Rail trip all across Canada, using a CanRailPass, which meant that I had to finish the trip within 30 days, using the train for only 12 of those days.

This particular vacation began in the middle of the night in Saskatoon's train station. It would finish a month later in the same place at the same time. Since VIA Rail travels through Saskatchewan almost entirely in the dark, except for a few months in the summer, it is the only province of the nine I travelled through which I haven't photographed from the train.

I've included only a few of the nearly five hundred photos I took during the trip. If you are at all interested in taking a similar trip, VIA Rail is still offering the CanRailPass, and it looks like they may even be considering improving passenger service.

You may take the tour by clicking on the train engines at the bottom of each page, or on the thumbnails for each picture.
