Meet lab members in AGU Fall Meeting 2016, San Francisco, 12-16 December 2016

Shervan, Amin, and Saman are organizing and convening two sessions at the AGU fall meeting 2016. One session points out at the recent advances in hydrological modeling to embrace the known (and unknown) hydrological processes and the other session looks at the advances in sensitivity and uncertainty analysis in environmental modeling with a focus on hydrological models. The description of the two sessions are:

Conveners: Shervan Gharari, Martyn P Clark, Saman Razavi and Bethanna M Jackson.

Invited speakers:
  1. Dr. Markus Hrachowitz from Delft University of Technology and the recipient of Early Career Scientist Award 2015 of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), on the topic “Model Formulations Under Change - Sure, but how? Problems and Ideas (but no Solutions)”
  2. Dr. Charles H. Luce from United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), on the topic “Cataloging Hydrologic Theory”

H008: Advances in Sensitivity and Uncertainty Analysis of Earth and Environmental Systems Models (https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm16/preliminaryview.cgi/Session13465)

Conveners: Amin Haghnegahdar, Saman Razavi, Hoshin Vijai Gupta and Mary C Hill.

Invited speaker: Professor Anthony Jakeman, Director of Integrated Catchment Assessment and Management (iCAM) Centre at the Australian National University, and the recipient of the 2012 Ray Page Lifetime Achievement Award from Simulation Australia, on the topic "Looking forward to restructuring or models based on Sensitivity Analysis".

H117: Water, Food, Energy Nexus (https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm16/preliminaryview.cgi/Session13804)

Saman is co-convening this session at the AGU looking at the wider picture of the interrelation between water management, food security and energy. This session looks at the reliability, resilience of existing systems and also prediction for these complex systems under uncertain future changes.
