Importance of Canine Papillomavirus

The importance of infection with canine papillomavirus is minimal relative to other skin disease of dogs.  Although rather unsitely, unless they are severe as seen in the coyote above, the warts tend not to interfere with the animals overall wellbeing.  Because they spontaneously regress, oral papillomatosis is probably more of a cosmetic problem. If however, the dog is a purebred for show, viral papillomatosis of any kind may put a damper on its show and breeding career.
