There are six types of bovine papillomavirus that cause warts in cattle.  They are numbered from 1 to 6, with each type having certain characteristics.  Between the 6 types of virus causing warts in cattle, there are only two types of warts that are formed - fibropapillomas and epithelial papillomas.  Fibropapillomas are made up of virus infected skin and connective tissue.  Epithelial papillomas are made up of only virus infected skin tissue and may be referred to as 'true warts'.
