Clinical Signs
Other Species affected - Ursidae

Ursidae, family of bears, has been shown to possess Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) titers (Deem et al., 2000).  There have been few reported cases of illness in this particular family.  Many members are susceptible to CDV and clinical infection is most commonly observed in Giant and Red Pandas (actually from the family Ailuronidae, however they are included here for simplicity).  Signs of the disease include; diarrhea, anorexia, purulent oculonasal discharge, ascending paresis, and some cases have resulted in terminal seizures/coma (Deem et al., 2000).
