Speculation and
epidemiological evidence have linked Multiple Sclerosis in humans and
CDV in dogs, involving the exposure of people with MS to dogs with
CDV. Further research is required to substantiate this
connection. CDV is now known to infect a wide variety of mammal
hosts including Canidae, Mustelidae, and Procyonidae families.
Only since the 1990's has CDV been recognized in large cats.
Further research is required to get baseline information of the host
range of CDV and infection rates in populations in order to compare
back in the case of epidemics
