Term Paper Deadline (11.20.08)

If you haven't been to class in a while (ahem, you know who you are), you might be interested to know that it was put to a vote in class last week that due date for the term paper assignment be postponed until next Friday, November 28th. Unsurprisingly, the motion was carried.

If you are especially interested in having your graded term paper returned before the final exam or if you have already finished it to your satisfaction (say, because you haven't been to class in a while and didn't know about the revised due date), you can of course turn it in before then. If you do, it will be graded and returned quite promptly, probably by the next class.

Recycling E-Waste (11.10.08)

Here's the 60 Mintues story that I was rattling on about in class today:

Required Text:

Poff, Deborah C., ed. Business Ethics in Canada, 4th Edition, (Pearson Prentice-Hall, 2005).

Earlier versions of this text have been used in previous years, so, if you are buying used, check to make sure that you are buying the 4th Edition.

Recommended Text:

McLean, Bethany and Peter Elkind, The Smartest Guys in the Room: The Amazing Rise and Scandalous Fall of Enron (Portfolio, 2004).

We won't be delving into McLean and Elkind's book in any great depth, but it does provide a wealth of interesting and useful examples. Plus it's an easy (and, in my view, pretty entertaining) read. A few copies have been ordered through the Campus Bookstore, but the book is also widely (and cheaply) available through Amazon and Chapters/Indigo.

Selected additional readings may also be made available at the Reserve Desk in the Library and/or on the course web site.
